In February 2016, Art in Halland invited visual artists to apply for residence scholarships for a Polish programme at Centrum Rzeźby Polskiej w Orońsku/Centre of Polish Sculpture i Orońsko (1-30 Sept). Based on the applications, the jury decided to award Kajsa Willner this grant.
Kajsa Willner are awarded the scholarship for “her interesting embodiments and concepts created in the borderland between art and design. The objects reveal an exciting and well-developed sense for materials. Her poetic expression seem to convey a story that arouses our curiosity”.
Kajsa Willner was born in 1982 and grew up in Vilshärad outside Halmstad. She has studied at KV Art School in Gothenburg and also at the IED Instituto Europeo di Design in Rome and Milano, Italy. She has been received several awards and works both nationally and internationally. During 2016, she had her work “Snickerboa chair” exhibited in both Düsseldorf and Dortmund on behalf of Young Swedish Form (Ung Svensk Form). The same years, Kajsa Willner participated in the collective exhibition “The new map” at Vandalorum, Värnamo.

The jury consisted of Kristian Berglund, artist and professionally active at the Nordic Watercolour Museum as a project manager and media producer, as well as representatives from Art in Halland. The final decision about the Polish grant was taken by the host institution.
