This project was created and developed by artist Henrik Stenberg and a tutor from Getingeskolan in Halmstad.
By using various artistic formats, the pupils and tutors wanted to further develop their ability to take in new information and present their new-found knowledge in histry, as well as contemporary reflections about themselves as human beings. Their wish was to work with painting.
The project was arranged to suit pupils in year 6 and consisted of three separate parts. All the pupils were taken on a guided walk around Halmstad and were told of the local history with a tutor from the Art Museum of Halland County. During the walk, they took part in a quiz, additional tasks and also paid a visit to the town hall to see the model of the town.
All the pupils also got to take part in a painting workshop at the Art Museum of Halland County, where they, with the perspective of historic portraits and selfportraits, got to paint selfies whilst given guidance and inspiration by Henrik Stenberg. In order to enable qualitative work, we chose to organise a fairly lengthy session here of 2.5 hours.
The final part of this project was based at school, where the pupils got to build town models with Henrik Stenberg. This consisted of two sessions and different themes, where one presentation part was included too. The pupils got to meet the artist on three separate occasions and come into contact with two different formats of expression, where both had the common denominators of mankind and society.
