Thanks to the exchange program between Art in Halland and the Art Consultants in Västerbotten County, artist Helena Wikström will stay and work in Halland from 12-25 September. She will be based at the Halland Art Museum in Halmstad. Amongst other things, she will visit various archives, Konstnärernas Kollektivverkstäder in Varberg, Halmstad and the Onsala peninsula, focusing on the spot where Mary Wollstonecraft stepped ashore in 1795. Thus, she will be given the opportunity to delve into what Halland County looked like before and also find new connections and links to our present day.
Helena was born in Småland County in 1964 and lives in Holmsund, Västerbotten County. She has studied at the Nordic Art School in Karleby, Finland, and has, for many years, been an active artist working on both her own projects and participating in various constellations with other artists, authors, filmmakers, and musicians. After working mainly with photo and film, Wikström has moved more and more onto sculptural installations. She has exhibited her pieces both nationally and internationally, for example, at The Museum of Work in Norrköping, Bildmuseet in Umeå, LCCA in Riga, Seuol Photo and Galerij Nova in Zagreb. Her art has been bought by Moderna Museet, the Public Art Agency Sweden and several municipalities and county councils. She has also participated in many international projects and residencies. Helena is a board member of Galleri Verkligheten in Umeå and the Art Manager at the White Cube at Norrlandsoperan.
In parallel with this, Art in Halland’s residency scholar Tove Möller will travel to Ricklundgården in Saxnäs.
